The Accreditation Examination (or foundational level exam in cosmetic dentistry) is the basis test. The examination is open to all individuals who have knowledge in all aspects of cosmetic dentistry. STEP 1: Written Examination
PREREQUISITES
The candidate must have completed the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree program to be eligible for the written exam. The candidate can also be any dentist (including faculty and residents), or any dental laboratory technician.
FEE STRUCTURE
This fee (non-refundable), covers the processing of your examination application and one appointment for testing.
First, 400 USD for paper-based at AACD’s Annual Scientific Session
Second, 685 USD computer-based at Castle Testing Center
EXAM FORMAT
The MCQ Format is used for the written examination. The examination can be written or computer-based. The first written examination contains more than 100 multiple-choice questions. More than 90% of the questions are designed to test foundational knowledge in cosmetic dentistry.
STEP 2: Clinical Case Examination
Only after a candidate has passed the qualifying exam, they are allowed to take part in the clinical case examination. This is the third step in the accreditation process.
